DESERTER are from Waldo, FL and currently have a demo tape/cdr through Never Give Up!! Records. They are planning on releasing a split EP with CROW’S FOOT (also from FL) and a full length cassette.
I just received my copy of the demo CDR the mail a few days ago, and what can I say? WOW! Super pissed off heavy ass hardcore, but I won’t try to compare them to anything. You will just have to listen to the sound file at the top of this post.

CEREMONY has just announced that they are planning to release a third full-length album next year. According to the band:
We’ve been kinda quiet about it. It sounds pretty cool. We have this crazy idea of recording it and putting it out, so expect that to happen late in the spring, maybe early in the summer.

DEATH FIRST is a female-fronted punk rock band from Brooklyn, New York. They have a demo cassette out now and are recording 5 new songs for a 7″ in about two weeks. Dan Goetz reviewed their tape in the October 2009 issue of MAXIMUM ROCKNROLL and this is what he wrote:
I wish this review could include me typing out the full lyrics to some of these songs, as they’re probably the most pointed, honest, opposite of cliche ones I’ve read in forever. For instance, the song “Social Work Blues” is about how the singer’s job that is supposed to help people instead reduces them to numbers while rewarding the bureaucracy, while “Tested” has her in the role of number, as she recounts her experience getting tested for an STD, and contrasts the sterility of the clinic to her own internal turmoil, in a semi spoken word style as an eerie guitar part sets the tone for everything. Musically, this band plays in a style reminiscent of a less crusty, slightly more east coast hardcore DETESTATION, with hints of NAUSEA and a stripped down ANTIPRODUCT, with a lot of single-note riffs and, if it even needs to be said at this point, an urgency in the vocals that I think I’d be able to feel, even if I didn’t have the lyrics at hand. Even if you don’t like this kind of stuff, and I don’t listen to a ton of it myself, I still recommend this.
They might have some copies of the demo left, so I would message them through their myspace (see link below) before you send money. They also have a link to download their demo in .mp3 format, but an actual tape is a lot more fun! Oh yeah, they are also planning a US tour March 27th -- April 5th of next year, so make sure you catch them if they play @ a venue near you.
